What we
hold to
Three commitments that decide every itinerary we publish — and the many we reject.
Structural rigor
Every itinerary is drawn like a section: load-bearing decisions first, ornament never. Nothing is left to chance, and nothing is added that does not carry weight.
Exact timing
We move to the light and against the crowd. Private dawn access, after-hours entry, and a calendar built around phenomena — not the convenience of operators.
Quiet restraint
Small groups, no performance, no spectacle. We protect the silence of a place as carefully as we protect access to it.
02 — The record
A measured
history
Eight years of fieldwork, built one expedition at a time.
2017
The first brief
Founded in a single room by two architects and an Egyptologist. The first commission — a four-day study of the Giza Plateau — still runs, largely unchanged.
2019
Down the river
Restored a single dahabiya and opened the Nile passage. The studio grew to seven, and the field-research practice that defines us began in earnest.
2022
The southern frontier
Extended into Nubia and the deep south, timing the Abu Simbel programme to the biannual solar alignment. The Journal published its first dispatch.
2026
Today
NowActive expeditions across twelve regions, a team of nineteen, and a single unchanged principle — design travel the way an architect treats a section drawing.
